Farmers Weekly

Farmers Weekly is a magazine aimed at the British farming industry. It provides news; business features; a weekly digest of facts and figures about British, European and world agriculture; and Livestock, Arable and Machinery sections with reports on technical developments, farm sales and analysis of prices.

History

The first issue was on June 22, 1934, costing 2d. It claimed to be a newspaper of the soil, and had an aim to increase agricultural production in the UK. [1]

Ownership

Farmers Weekly is part of the Farmers Weekly Group, which includes other products such as Crops Magazine, Poultry World and the group website, Farmers Weekly interactive. The Farmers Weekly Group is owned by Reed Business Information and is based in Sutton in Surrey[2].

Farmers Weekly interactive is a website associated with Farmers Weekly magazine. Completely redesigned in 2005, it includes sections on news, arable, poultry, livestock, machinery, farm life, weather, prices, jobs, property, classified and special offers. A daily email newsletter and online discussion forums are also available. It is managed and edited by Julian Gairdner.
